Nova is the second book in The Renegades series by Rebecca Yarros. After two books, I am now a fan of Yarros' writing style and plot development. She kept me intrigued and interested from beginning to end. I was anxiously awaiting this release. We were introduced to Landon and Rachel's back story in Wilder, book one. It was a complex story with the promise for a second chance forever love but it would be hard fought. And it was... Landon Rhodes was one of the original Renegades - a team of Extreme Sports athletes. He was gorgeous, smart, a total dare devil and spiraling downward fast until Rachel Dawson came back into his world. She was beautiful, sassy, strong and the perfect match for Landon, until she wasn't. They were together until Landon chose The Renegades over Rachel and he never looked back. He self medicated with alcohol, women and risky stunts. Once Rachel unknowingly crossed his path again, he knew he had a second chance and he would do anything to win her back. Nova was told in a dual POV. I loved that Rachel didn't let Landon off easy. She wanted nothing to do with him and she wouldn't accept a weak apology. He devastated her when he left without a word and she was determined not to put herself in that position again. It's typical for a storyline to drag for me while the hero is trying to make it right; however, Yarros developed it realistically and my interest didn't wane. I also loved the detail Yarros provided regarding the extreme sports preparation and stunts. I'm not familiar with extreme sports so the level of detail was not only interesting but also added depth and dimension to the storyline. The only drawback was that I was craving an epilogue or a glance into the future. However, based on the foundation of the storyline, a nine month study at sea program, the storyline will continue in the next book of the series so we should see continued development not only for Landon and Rachel, but also for Paxton and Leah (book one). Additionally, Yarros introduced new supporting characters that could easily continue the series for several more books. In the meantime, Yarros continued to develop Penna, another original Renegade, and provided teasers for what we can expect next in the series.
