All I Want (Alabama Summer #2)

All I Want, the second book of Daniels Alabama Summer series, was an emotional conundrum. I loved Luke's external character. He was an insanely sexy, confident alpha male. Internally he was a tortured soul that built multiple layers of walls and when those walls were threatened he'd first shut down, then he'd attack verbally when pushed. Tessa Kelly was the beautiful feisty firecracker whose tongue was never tamed. They fit until they didn't when the walls were too big to overcome. Daniels took us slowly through the journey of hostility and anger that consumed both Luke and Tessa over unresolved issues. Yet occasionally, the love, gentleness and hurt would slip through. The cause of Luke's pain and the driving forces behind him would also gradually be unveiled. Yet I would have liked to see even more depth with Luke. The storyline moved a little slow for me, but was captivating enough to keep me turning pages for what was to come. I was on the edge emotionally through most of the book. The focus was on Luke's inability to let anyone in; however, in reality, not much was known about Tessa. To balance the story, I would have liked a deeper dive into Tessa as well. Daniels brought back the full cast of supporting characters from the first book in the series, Where I Belong. Daniels continued to develop the characters for a glimpse into the happiness of Mia and Ben Kelly as well as wondering what triggers Reed Tennyson. Which leads us to the next book in the series, When I Fall. Bring it on!
