Unveiling Ghosts (Unveiling #3)

Unveiling Ghosts is the third book in the Unveiling series but can be read as a standalone. It's the first book I've read by Jeannine Allison. I received a complimentary copy for an honest review. Unveiling Ghosts was a second chance novel with a dual POV between the hero and the heroine, Hunter and Sherry. They were best friends since the age of 10. They came from different worlds yet they had a common bond of souls. They eventually were boyfriend and girlfriend until tragedy struck at 18 and Hunter left without a trace. The story opened at present day, four years from when they last saw each other. The storyline then bounced between the past and present to create the full storyline. It was an intense saga with a mixture of sweetness and sadness. Additionally, Allison tackled the difficult and chilling topic of child abuse. I liked the premise of the story and enjoyed it thoroughly. However, realistically, I felt Sherry would have demanded more of an explanation immediately. I also felt there were still unanswered questions. I craved more. However, Allison addressed that as well with "...humans are obsessed with the why of things - even though we know it will never take away the pain, we still search for it. But in the end, it can't take away the pain or the loss." All in all, it was an enjoyable tale with an HEA. Allison included the supporting cast from the previous books in the series as well as simultaneously setting the stage for the next two books, which will include Grayson & Ellie and Derek & Sam.
