Until Sage (Until Him #2)

Until Sage is the second book in the Until Him series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It's the fifth off spring book (Until Her/Until Him) from the Until series. Sage Mayson was the gorgeous, hunky alpha son of Nico and Sophie from book four in the Until series. It's another Mayson "boom" where he knew immediately that he met his soul mate but convincing her of the same was the challenge. Kimberly Cullen was the beauty with baggage - albeit, not the addiction or crime filled baggage, but baggage none the less. Kim's baggage was more family related with a few minor secrets. Until Sage was told with a dual POV. We were introduced to Sage and Kim in previous books, but not their backstory. We did, however, know that something happened between the two and there was sexual tension; we just didn't know any details. I'm glad to finally get the full story but I wish Reynolds had used timelines for the beginning. We've been reading about Sage and Kim's tension for a few books now so I felt like the first few chapters skipped months or years but there was no time reference so the assumption was that the entire meeting and second chance covered only days. The timeline didn't seem to align accurately from previous references so it was somewhat confusing. Aside from that, I continued to love Reynolds' alpha men. The Mayson's were all over the top, bossy, protective men. Sage was no different and that totally worked for me. I also loved that there wasn't more crime filled or crazy ex themes. It's worked for me in the past books, but I didn't think it was necessary here. I did, however, think Sage's reactions were over the top for the argument scenes. I think in reality there would at least be a discussion before becoming the out of control angry that was exhibited. Another highlight was that Reynolds touched the surface on adoption from a child's perspective. I'm expecting to see more depth into this when we get to Nalia's story, Sage's sister. Reynolds also gave us a glimpse into what it's like to learn to cope with a life long kidney disease. There wasn't much depth and dimension into either one, however, she brought awareness to both which brought complexity to the storyline. All in all, Until Sage was entertaining and enjoyable. Reynolds continued to develop previous characters as well as introduce us to more Mayson siblings and cousins. Until Harmony is next up and I can't wait!
