Torch was the first book I've read by LeAnn Asher and it's the first book of the Devil Souls MC series. I was soooo ready for a good MC book. I love the big confident alpha that screams MC! And I love the suspenseful action plot that typically accompanies it. Torch had both. Torch was the VP and an original member of the Devil's Souls MC. He was big, gorgeous, protective, and a single father who raised a daughter completely on his own. Kayla was beautiful and blind. She had a horrendous childhood and was used to being ridiculed and tormented due to her blindness. She was also tough, funny and strong. The book opens with Kayla and Torch's first encounter. Kayla was in the process of being abducted and Torch came to her rescue. The first half of the book was the best for me. I loved how this started - the hero and heroine hit it off from the start and didn't mess around with avoiding their attraction. They owned it and never looked back. I loved that! Kayla was hysterical - super sweet but then had a temper when people were mean or abusing. Torch was over the top alpha and possessive and it worked for me. The difficult part for me was that the back half of the book mirrored the first half, so her humor wasn't as funny and I was craving more complexity and dimension. Asher did take us through additional steps within their relationship as well as various activity within the MC and I loved the direction and the potential. However, I desired more depth and challenge. As the plot progressed, it seemed disjointed and needed more detail to fill in the gaps. Lastly, I was confused as to where the series can go. Within Torch's story, Asher had already paired every MC member with their forever love, and then the epilogue included names of offspring; yet the upcoming books in the series show that each member will get his own book. My personal preference was to keep those details for each book so some of the suspense remained, but it's a new approach for me and I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. The epilogue was thorough and created a desire for the offspring books, so I'm hopeful those details will be saved for each individual story. I'm ready for those books now! Techy and Alisha's story is next. We met them in Torch and now we'll get their back story in Techy.
